Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I support people who are visually impaired to be independent. This could be reclaiming their independence with the visual impairment for example learning long cane skills to travel routes, independent living skills for example safely using knife skills and techniques to make food and accessing information in a way that works for the person. The list goes on. Its a fantastic role and no day is ever the same. Its a job you can get a huge amount of reward from daily.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The Foundation degree at Birmingham City is excellent. I have undertaken a couple of prior courses, a degree and diploma however this course is like no other. It is a specialist course and the tutors are absolutely passionate about how they teach and what they teach.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed existing skills having worked in social care for a couple of years prior. The skills learnt are directly used in your day to day job role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is fairly flawless, its well thought out and tried and tested, it adapts to our needs aswell.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Norfolk County Council, I could not have wished for a more supportive employer. They far outweigh support on every level listening to other apprentices experiences on the course and with their employers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support is unlimited it feels.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Every thing you learn you bring with you directly into the job you do and share with the wider team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There always seems to be something going on that you can get involved in. I have attended a couple of the networking events for apprentices which have been well organised.
