Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an Area Support Group Manager, my role is to provide operational, administrative, and customer-focused support across multiple sites within the area. On a day-to-day basis, I work closely with site teams, managers, and clients to ensure high service standards are consistently met and maintained.
This involves acting as a key point of contact for customer relations, supporting issue resolution, handling queries, and maintaining strong working relationships with clients. I am responsible for preparing and distributing monthly performance and compliance packs, monitoring KPIs, and ensuring accurate reporting. I also support meetings by gathering data, taking actions forward, and following up on agreed outcomes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship. It has been a great opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge while applying what I learn directly to my role. I enjoy the balance between practical, hands‑on experience and structured learning, as it helps reinforce my understanding and build confidence in my day‑to‑day work. The programme has supported my personal and professional development, and I feel it is helping me progress within my role and prepare for future career opportunities.

Through the apprenticeship, I have strengthened my communication and customer relationship skills, particularly when dealing with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. I have also developed my organisational and time‑management skills by managing multiple priorities, preparing monthly packs, and supporting meetings. In addition, I have gained a better understanding of operational processes, reporting, and compliance, which has helped me become more confident and effective in my role.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a very high level of support from my employer. I feel well supported throughout my apprenticeship, with regular guidance, encouragement, and flexibility to balance my learning alongside my work responsibilities. My manager and colleagues are always approachable and willing to help, which has made the experience positive and has supported my development and confidence within the role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a great deal of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. They are very accessible and always available to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide feedback. The support is consistent and informative, which helps me stay on track with my learning and feel confident in progressing through the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?
i would advise others applying to Compass Group to be themselves and clearly demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Being organised, reliable, and customer‑focused really helps, as these are important qualities within the business. I would also recommend being open to development opportunities, such as apprenticeships, as Compass Group provides strong support and encourages personal and professional growth. Having good communication skills and a team‑focused mindset will help you succeed and feel supported from the start.
