Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Marketing Manager Degree Apprentice, combining academic study with hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced commercial environment. My role focuses on supporting marketing and communications activities across the full lifecycle of projects, from planning and development through to review and evaluation.
On a day‑to‑day basis, I work on creating and coordinating marketing materials, supporting digital communications, contributing to campaign planning, and collaborating with cross‑functional colleagues to ensure activities are accurate, compliant, and aligned with overall objectives. I also support the organisation and delivery of projects, track progress against timelines, and help analyse performance to understand what has worked well and where improvements can be made.
Alongside my practical responsibilities, I apply the knowledge gained through my degree studies to real‑world tasks, particularly in areas such as marketing strategy, stakeholder management, data‑driven decision‑making, and professional communication. This balance allows me to continuously develop both my technical marketing skills and my broader business capability.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The combination of academic learning and practical experience has been extremely rewarding, as it allows me to immediately apply theory to real business situations. This has helped me develop confidence, independence, and a clearer understanding of how marketing operates within a professional organisation.
I particularly value the responsibility I am given and the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders, which has strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills. The programme has also encouraged me to be proactive about my own development, reflect on my progress, and continuously seek opportunities to learn and improve.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
In particular, I have strengthened my communication skills by working with a variety of stakeholders, tailoring information for different audiences, and presenting ideas clearly and professionally.
I have also developed strong organisational and project‑management skills, including planning tasks, prioritising workloads, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple activities at the same time. This has helped me become more structured and confident in managing my responsibilities independently.
In addition, I have enhanced my analytical and problem‑solving skills by reviewing information, evaluating outcomes, and using insights to support decision‑making. I have also grown in confidence, resilience, and adaptability, learning how to respond positively to feedback and apply learning from my academic studies to practical situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The combination of structured academic study alongside workplace responsibilities works well, allowing me to plan my time effectively and apply theoretical learning directly to practical tasks. Regular check‑ins, reviews, and clear milestones help me stay on track and reflect on my progress.
While the role itself can be fast‑paced and varied, this has been a positive learning experience and has helped me develop flexibility and prioritisation skills. Overall, the programme offers a strong balance between structure and real‑world exposure, which has supported my development and confidence as a degree apprentice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a high level of support from my employer throughout my degree apprenticeship. I am supported by my line manager and colleagues, who provide regular guidance, feedback, and opportunities to learn through practical experience. This support helps me understand expectations, develop confidence in my role, and continuously improve my performance.
I am also encouraged to balance my academic commitments alongside my work responsibilities, with flexibility and understanding around study time and deadlines. This has been important in allowing me to fully engage with both aspects of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. They provide clear guidance on academic requirements, assessment criteria, and deadlines, which helps me stay organised and confident in my studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I recognise that much of my learning comes from hands‑on experience in the role itself. The qualification is most effective when the theory aligns closely with my day‑to‑day responsibilities, as this allows me to directly apply what I am learning. In some areas, the learning is more long‑term in nature, helping to build a broader foundation rather than having an immediate impact.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there's Run club, Gym onsite, networking drop in sessions alongside volunteering that is set up internally to aid with organisations such as Rise Against Hunger.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, I would recommend Pfizer as a place that provides meaningful development opportunities and a positive environment for building long‑term career skills.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
1) Ensure you align with Pfizer's values: Courage, Excellence, Equity and Joy.
2) Strive to learn and grow and not perfection; there is a good support system to aid your development but only if you are transparent and communicate your strengths and focus areas for improvement.
