Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Developing marketing campaigns based on brand strategy. Day to day this looked like working with agencies and medical teams to create materials and then training the sales teams on these campaigns. It also involved tracking metrics on specific materials & campaigns as a whole & gathering feedback to make sure they are impactful. I also got involved with global market research which was fascinating. Throughout the year I had the opportunity to get involved with strategic planning and developing strategy around pricing, narrative and messaging to insure the brand is as competitive as possible.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was trusted to lead on impactful projects & treated as an important member of the team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Confidence is huge- from being stressed about sending an email at the beginning, to being confident presenting to large groups of senior colleagues, chairing meetings and confidently networking, the difference in my public speaking and confidence in my own capability is very stark.
My time management and prioritisation skills have also developed massively, kind of by default of working in a deadline orientated environment.
Stakeholder management- the role is very cross functional, and I have learnt about how to bring large groups of different people together to work on a project, ensuring that each person is brought in at the right time.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

My manager was excellent. I received lots of support from her with both my personal development and also my industry specific skill development (strategic approach etc). She supported me to have difficult conversations when necessary and to ask for opportunities to make the most of my year.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Great culture, no one expects you to be working yourself to death on the weekends/ evenings etc, and want to prevent burn out and ensure you have a life outside of work. There are lots of fab clubs, we had a netball club, a run club, hyrox club, football etc etc. The people experience team run lots of fun things to keep people happy day to day in the office as well. Pfizer gives you 5 volunteering days to take per year on top of AL which has been a fab scheme and I have gotten involved in some really meaningful volunteering days.
