Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Each day is different; working on a client account means that we have to be reactive to their needs and manage internal stakeholders accordingly. This could involve client meetings, managing internal operations or identifying sales opportunities, for example.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The rotational aspect for the first 2.5 years of the programme was the best foundation to understand where my interests laid, and allowed me to make an informed choice for my 18 month rotation, in accordance with these.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely - the past 3.5 years on the programme have been foundational in developing my professional skillset, from enhancing my understanding of Microsoft Office to how to use AI efficiently, as well as learning to manage cross-functional projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure has improved over the course of the programme, with learning weeks implemented in between rotations to enhance our experience in the workplace. I've found great value in these kind of additional sessions that Early Careers have organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The Early Careers team is always on hand if we need support, as well as via the usual route through our line manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The provider is on hand when needed to answer questions and provide support, however responses can be delayed sometimes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that by understanding the theory behind my work, I am able to more confidently undertake my responsibilities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Visa has many employee resource groups (ERGs) which we are encouraged to participate in, as well as a run club and other sports groups.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a great environment to start your career, surrounded by people who want to help others to learn. The industry knowledge amongst colleagues is incredible and a great way to build a good foundational understanding of payments.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
Understand the business model - Visa is not a credit card company, or a bank. Being able to understand the payments ecosystem, even at a basic level, will set you up well when applying.
