Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

During my internship, I worked within the UK&I Product team, supporting Premium and Affluent Solutions across a mix of commercial analysis, product development and AI enablement. My work included analysing client opportunities such as the Nationwide BIN upgrade, contributing to the intern innovation challenge, and building Affluent Navigator, an internal AI-powered tool that made Visa Infinite product information easier for teams to access and use. I also presented my work to UK&I and European Product teams, supported colleagues in adopting tools such as Claude Code and Copilot Studio, and created clear handover materials to help ensure my projects could be maintained after my internship.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility during my internship. I was trusted to lead pieces of work independently, including commercial analysis, developing an internal AI-powered product knowledge tool, presenting to UK&I and European teams, and supporting wider AI adoption. I was also responsible for gathering feedback, improving my work and creating handover materials so that the projects could continue after I left.

Yes, I developed my commercial analysis, presentation and stakeholder-management skills, while also learning how to build and deploy AI-powered tools. I became more confident taking ownership of projects, presenting to wider teams and turning business problems into practical solutions.

I received a strong level of support throughout my internship. My manager, buddy and wider team were approachable and gave me regular guidance and feedback, while still trusting me to work independently and take ownership of my projects.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was welcoming, collaborative and supportive. People were approachable and willing to help, and I felt comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and taking ownership of meaningful work. The overall atmosphere was positive, inclusive and focused on learning.
