Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role focuses on delivering projects end-to-end, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned to business priorities.
Day-to-day, I track progress against plans, manage stakeholders across different functions, and resolve any risks or blockers that could impact delivery. I also maintain clear reporting, providing updates to senior stakeholders and ensuring alignment across teams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I’ve really enjoyed my apprenticeship programme overall. It’s given me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing my skills in a real working environment, which has been far more valuable than purely classroom-based learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve developed a range of both new and existing skills through the apprenticeship.
I’ve strengthened my communication and stakeholder management by working with different teams and presenting updates. I’ve also improved my organisation and time management, particularly balancing project delivery alongside learning commitments.
In terms of new skills, I’ve gained experience in project planning and managing risks and issues. I’ve also become more confident in problem-solving and adapting to changing priorities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The learning side of the apprenticeship is well structured following an internal learning programme which is organised by quarters, this enables self paced learning which I prefer. However, I do feel for the written sections of the portfolio there isnt clear direction on when parts of the portfolio must be completed which can cause some people to feel a rush of work at the end of the apprenticeship near the EPA.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer. My manager is approachable and provides regular guidance, particularly when priorities shifted or challenges arose. There’s clear communication around expectations, and I’m given the opportunity to ask questions and develop my understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
IBM is my training provider therefore same as above.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The training I complete is largely IBM’s qualifications, which closely link to the work I do in my role. This makes the learning highly relevant, as I’m able to apply new knowledge and concepts straight into my day-to-day responsibilities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are a range of extra-curricular activities available. These include both social events and networking opportunities

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would recommend IBM to a friend. It offers strong opportunities for development, particularly through structured training and real project experience. The supportive environment and exposure to different teams also make it a good place to build skills and progress early in your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
I’d recommend being honest and authentic during the interview, as well as taking the time to prepare thoroughly so you can clearly demonstrate your skills and experiences.
It’s also important to show a genuine interest in IBM and the role you’re applying for, and to highlight examples where you’ve demonstrated problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability. Being confident in how you communicate your experiences can make a big difference.
