Commerical Intern Review

My role is largely centered around the project work we were tasked with. This usually involved updating data sets, analysing data and graphs, and tracking performance for individual products and products sets. The day-to-day involves communication with my teammate and often other members of the team, either through messaging or calls.

Definitely. Although our work was always checked by our managers, the project work my teammate (another intern) and I were tasked with was largely our responsibility. Our findings and work were having a direct impact on the business, and this drove our motivation to do well.

I have learnt many new skills throughout this internship. Principally, I developed my data analysis skills - in regard to the practical skills needed to use Excel and other data software, but also in terms of interpreting and manipulating data e.g., in graphs.
Furthermore, I have developed my communication, teamwork, time management and presentation skills. Overall, my confidence has developed massively throughout my internship.

I received a lot of support and guidance throughout my internship. My manager was extremely supportive from the start, making it clear that I could always ask questions or ask for help if needed. As well as a manager, I also had a Team Navigator throughout the internship whom was more closely involved in the team and work I was doing. Having a team navigator was extremely useful for times when I needed clarity on specifics within the work. Furthermore, everyone in my close team, as well as wider, were open to communication and questions - as well as offering support where they could provide it.

The company culture and general atmosphere was great. The office is a very nice space to work in and the people themselves are also lovely. There are so many communities to join that support women, minorities etc., which is great to see and only encourages better working practises and relationships. There are also lots of work events which creates a friendly atmosphere and highlights the healthy work/life balance that they encourage. Being an international company, lots of work and collaboration is also done online via Zoom etc. Even when online, the company culture is great and there is still a wonderful sense of community within teams - even if they have never met in person!

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I first accepted the offer but it has been above and beyond anything I could have imagined. The work itself has been interesting, engaging, challenging and meaningful. The people have been welcoming, curious, supportive and inclusive. And overall, I have enjoyed myself!
