Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Team Leader, leading and managing a small team of Executive Administrators (EAs) who provide secretarial support to Senior Managers in Adult Social Services.
Day to Day management of EAs, setting of goals, coaching and mentoring, ensuring they have the tools for the job, solving problems, making decisions, maintaining wellbeing of team, reporting team progress to Team Manager and Head of Service.
Building and managing relationships with the Senior Managers who the team support including regular feedback meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My apprenticeship qualification (Team Leader Level 3) fitted perfectly with the role that I was doing. The structure of the course worked very well for my learning style and I've developed a lot over this time.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot of new skills. My course seemed to time perfectly with different issues within the team, meaning I was able to confidently apply what I was learning in real time.

The monthly classroom workshop days, regular review meetings and open door for any questions works perfectly
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer have been very good for allowing me the time to undertake my apprenticeship work. My manager has been supportive at all stages.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The provider is very supporting, offering regular 1:1 sessions, and providing email support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The learning I have had has fitted perfectly with things that I have experienced in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are plenty of these, but I don't tend to do this.

Why?
Specifically with regards to the Apprenticeship programmes on offer because there is such a vast variety of them covering the different types of roles within NCC, and generally due to NCC's flexible working approaches.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Norfolk County Council?
To be open to any learning opportunities that are offered
