Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a degree apprentice at Visa, I work full‑time while studying towards a university degree, combining academic learning with hands‑on experience in a global payments and technology company.
In my role, I support teams across commercial, product, and strategy areas, contributing to projects that help businesses pay and get paid securely and efficiently. This includes assisting with market research, preparing client‑facing materials, analysing data, and working with colleagues across sales, product, legal, and marketing teams. Through this, I’ve developed strong communication skills and a solid understanding of how large organisations collaborate to deliver solutions at scale.
The apprenticeship also includes a rotational programme, allowing me to gain exposure to different parts of the business and build a broad understanding of the payments ecosystem. Working across teams has helped me understand how Visa partners with clients and how strategic decisions are made in a fast‑moving, global environment.
Alongside my role, I complete a degree programme, balancing professional responsibilities with structured study. This combination has enabled me to develop both practical and academic skills, while building a strong foundation for a long‑term career in payments and technology.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy this program, getting to rotate throughout the business allows me to work with different people all the time which is one of the most favorable aspects of this rotation.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have developed both new and existing skills throughout my apprenticeship.
I have significantly strengthened my communication and interpersonal skills, particularly through working with cross‑functional teams across sales, product, legal, and compliance. This has helped me learn how to tailor my communication to different audiences, manage stakeholder expectations, and collaborate effectively in a professional environment.
Alongside this, I have developed strong soft skills such as organisation, time management, and professional confidence. Balancing full‑time work with my degree has required careful prioritisation, while taking ownership of tasks has helped me become more confident contributing ideas and delivering work independently.
I have also built valuable technical knowledge of payments, including an understanding of the payments ecosystem, commercial card solutions, and how Visa works with clients and partners. Through exposure to real projects and client‑related work, I have improved my ability to understand payment flows, interpret data, and support payment‑focused initiatives.
Overall, the apprenticeship has helped me develop a well‑rounded skill set that combines strong communication and soft skills with growing technical payments knowledge.
