Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role was public facing working on outpatients clinic reception, this included checking patient in for appointments, booking and rearranging appointments, updating patient demographics. I answered telephone calls and email, dealing with different clinics and wards, communicating with doctors, nurses and secretaries daily.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have improved on my communication skills both verbally and written. I have learnt how to adapt for the patients needs and support my colleagues sharing workloads. I have learnt many new computer systems and improved my knowledge of excel and office products.

I would suggest looking into the trust and understanding their values. Have a good understanding of the hospital and the main areas and departments and how they run differently.
