Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I enrol staff onto Functional Skills Maths and English classes. I liaise with them and two college providers to provide them with suitable classes.
I use excel spreadsheets to keep track of their progress and their personal details.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying my apprenticeship. I get great support from my tutor, who is always available if i need any help and support. When we have meetings, he explains everything clearly and asks me questions to make sure that i understand. I have had great feedback from my tutor and this has given me confidence to successfully complete the apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how to write essays, something that i had never done before.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The whole programme is very well structured. It is split into modules and my tutor sends attachments via email, for each one. When we have meetings, he goes through the slides and discusses each one clearly and asks me questions to make sure that I understand. I revert back to these when I am typing my assignment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I get great support from my employer. They allow me to study one day a week at home, which is so helpful. Any advice that i need regarding my assignments, they gladly help. I have a mentor who regularly checks that I am ok and handing in assignments on time.

5/5
I have 100% support from the training provider. We have regular meetings and he is always at the end of a line if I need to call him. He always gives encouraging words and is very positive towards my work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I haven't quite finished my apprenticeship yet but already, I feel more confident the more that I learn.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes i would recommend Cambridge University Hospital to a friend. It's a great place to work, you meet so many different people each day just by passing through the main reception. It's always nice to see a familiar friendly face.
There are good opportunities for moving up the pay bands. Plenty of training facilities online and also plenty of apprenticeship options.
You can get staff discount in the food hall and also by using your Blue Badge for great discounts on shopping, clothing, holidays and many more.
People look out for each other by using our values - Safe, Kind and Excellent.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS Cambridge University Hospitals?
The application process is quite long winded but you can save it on the TRAC hospital system and use again for other jobs. Make sure that you read the job description and especially the 'essential criteria' section. Ask a friend or relative to check it over with you, do a spelling check and try not to use AI.
