Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As the Group Lead of Hospitality for HSBC with Restaurant Associates, I am responsible for overseeing the full hospitality operation across the 8CS estate, ensuring that every aspect of the guest experience reflects the highest standards of service, professionalism, and brand alignment. My role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight, people development, and continuous improvement to deliver a seamless and exceptional hospitality experience for colleagues, clients, and visitors.
My role is about leading people, elevating service, and shaping the hospitality experience across HSBC’s 8CS estate. Every day involves balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on operational leadership to ensure that our teams deliver exceptional service that reflects both the HSBC brand and the Restaurant Associates standard of excellence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I’m genuinely enjoying my apprenticeship programme — far more than I expected when I first started. What I appreciate most is how it blends structured learning with real, hands‑on experience. Every week gives me something new to apply, and I can see my confidence and capability growing as a result.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely — the apprenticeship has helped me build new skills while also strengthening the abilities I already had. One of the biggest benefits has been the balance between structured learning and real‑world application, which has allowed me to grow in several key areas.
Leadership & teamwork: I’ve become more confident supporting colleagues, taking initiative, and contributing to team success.
Organisation & time management: Balancing study, work, and practical tasks has helped me become more structured and efficient.
Customer service: I’ve strengthened my ability to anticipate needs, handle challenges calmly, and deliver a polished, professional experience.
Problem‑solving: I’m now quicker at identifying issues, thinking through solutions, and taking action.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Overall, the programme is well‑organised and structured in a way that supports steady development while still allowing flexibility for real‑world learning. The combination of scheduled learning sessions, on‑the‑job experience, and regular check‑ins creates a clear pathway for progression, and I always feel like I know what I’m working toward.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel well supported by my employer throughout the apprenticeship. The combination of guidance, resources, and day‑to‑day encouragement has made a real difference to my progress and confidence. I always feel like my development is taken seriously and that people genuinely want me to succeed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a strong level of support from my training provider, and it has made a noticeable difference in helping me stay on track with my qualification. The guidance is consistent, accessible, and tailored to my development needs, which gives me confidence as I work through each stage of the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification has had a clear and positive impact on how I perform in my role. The learning I’m doing through Hit Training and the Marcus Forward Programme directly supports the skills I use day‑to‑day, and I can see a noticeable difference in my confidence, decision‑making, and overall understanding of hospitality operations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes — there are several extra‑curricular opportunities available, and they add a really positive dimension to the workplace experience. These activities help build connections, support wellbeing, and create a sense of community beyond day‑to‑day responsibilities, as the Way Days with my Cohort, that now have also included the Chefs Cohorts as well.
