Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I have been in the pharma industry looking after drug product packaging for over 15 years. More recently, I've been involved in company acquisitions, implementing new legislation or involved in the roll out of new software. I am also a key contact for our manufacturing division
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Its been fun. There is alot of coursework to be complete and logging hours has been hard whilst holding down a senior position within the business full time. The course is interesting, the learning opportunities are great and very relevant. The tutor is very knowledgeable. I did find the mentor was trying to be helpful but at times the process became cumbersome. The online learning platform is very good.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
New skills would be in the analytics space. A deeper knowledge of the business process analytics has helped drive a more professional and broader response than I would have had without the course. Some new models of Analytics were helpful in the Pharma sector and the thought process of analysing the impact of AI on our business was good to understand for the future.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structureed... the formal learning is spaced out enough and the projects chosen and training scenarios are relevant to my work. I did have some assistance from an education learning supporting my neurodiversity. The Tutor and Mentor were great at understanding the course and whats needed. It was a time issue for the OTJ learning that I found hard - especially whilst the business was undergooing such massive change - but this was not known or predicted at the start of the course
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Some... early one under my first manager a lot of encouragement and strategic alignment. My local manager /sponsor is not my line manager but is local and he has been brilliant to help me think differently to support the business needs of the course. We have had a large business restructure and honestly there has been focus elsewhere that has driven a need to focus elsewhere. We do also have a local support lead and she has been most helpful in perspective and support signposting
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Alot actually. Three interfaces, one from an educational professional to support Neurodiversity, a coach who's supported where this role might take me in to the future (very helpful), a data mentor looking after the program and study and the actual lecture/formal learning teacher. The data mentor has been supportive where I have struggled with the format of the projects. A difficulty with understanding the course requirements int he format suggested but an openness to allow me to find my own path that helped with framing and understanding
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Pretty well. I was looking for a strategic view point and this course certainly helps with what I am doing now.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Lots - but not relevant to my course or I have much time for... On a personal level, having been in the business a long time I dont need much in the extra curricular activities space to grown my needs. However, I am allow to volunteer in schools to teach science to primary age, I am a coach to Grad and undergrad students new to the business and I am member of two industry bodies. I dont need to seek the opportunities - they are readily offered and encouraged.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great work environment - the people are supportive and a healthly work culture (no toxiticy, good mental health and physical health awareness). The renumeration is pretty good too. On a par with industry. The opportuniaties are there if you chose to ask for them. However, there is allowance for personal space too (some years you have life issues that take priority that they accomnodate)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
Be open and honest about your expectations, there is alot of self learning encouraged and at times this can feel isolating as everyone is busy - finding the right person can be hard in the large corporate world but the rewards are great long term.
