Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a second-year Legal Solicitor Apprentice, my role involves supporting fee earners and knowledge lawyers across a range of real estate matters while continuing my legal studies alongside work. On a day-to-day basis, this includes legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, assisting with transaction support, and managing knowledge resources such as precedents and guidance notes. I am also involved in coordinating training, supporting business development initiatives, and responding to internal queries from the wider team. The role is varied and hands-on, allowing me to apply what I am learning in practice, develop my technical legal skills, and gain a strong understanding of how a commercial law firm operates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my programme. It offers a good balance between academic learning and practical, hands-on experience, which helps bring the law to life. Being able to apply what I learn in my studies directly to real work has boosted my confidence and development, and I value the responsibility and variety the apprenticeship gives me as I progress in my career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have developed a wide range of new skills and strengthened existing ones. I have improved my legal research and drafting skills, gained greater confidence in reviewing documents, and developed a stronger understanding of real estate law in practice. I have also enhanced my organisational, communication, and time‑management skills by balancing work responsibilities with my studies, as well as working closely with colleagues across different teams.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well organised and structured. There is a clear framework for both the work-based learning and academic elements, with good support from supervisors and the wider team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer. Supervisors and colleagues are approachable and willing to help when guidance is needed, and there is support available for both work and study.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. Regular check‑ins, feedback on coursework, and access to learning resources. The structure encourages independence, but I feel well supported overall throughout my studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification supports my role well by reinforcing the legal principles I apply in practice. The academic content helps deepen my understanding of the work I do day to day, particularly in areas such as legal research, drafting, and professional practice. Being able to link theory with real cases and tasks has helped me perform more confidently and effectively in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are a range of extra‑curricular activities available at work, we also have firm‑wide initiatives and groups that encourage involvement beyond day‑to‑day work, which helps build relationships across teams and supports professional development.
