Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Spend the day with the tech im on my placement with, I get involved in their projects as well as preventitive maintenance as well as shadowing others to learn the skills required for the apprenticeship scheme.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It is very engaging and varied, lots of freedom and independance is given even as an apprentice and I am constantly learning new skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have mostly learned mechanical skills such as how pneumatic and hydraulic systems work, basic hand skills and fitting and an intro to welding. I'm now learning electrical skills and developing my knowledge on that aspect on my current placement.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Due to the program's college days being purely theory based it relies on everything being taught on-site which can sometimes be difficult for developing the fundamentals, however my employer is tackling this by developing more on-site training programmes to fill this gap in the programme. Otherwise the program is very good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Everyone is very willing to help and give guidance and if I have any issues there are multiple people I can speak to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Our assessor gives us support if needed, though due to the limited time we spend at college support could be better for those who struggle with the content covered at college and for keeping on track with assessments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
So far it has improved some gaps in my knowledge however so far the units we've covered havent covered the hands on of doing our role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are team-building exercises throughout the year to go on that typically involve activities off-site.
