I work in the sustainability team in BBC News and Current affairs. I have worked on a number of exciting projects i.e staff surveys, creating deployment document for COP30, albert certification and other projects. We work closely with stakeholders and lease with them regularly. No two days are the same and I'm constantly learning! Which is what i love the most.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very very organised. My manager schedules in a 1-1 meeting with me every week. My schemes specialist makes sure we meet with the cohort once a month and consistently checks in. Both understand my university scheme and know what is required of me, my manager consistently makes sure to give me work that supports my KSB's which is amazing!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot of support. I am supported at work i have two buddies one in the team and one who's not in my team. BBC always makes sure to cater to my needs, I pray when I need to since I'm muslim, I was given flexible working hours during ramadan, I was given additional support due to my anxiety (workplace coaching) which has been beneficial for my development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A lot of support, theres a number of resources online which helped us navigate the website when starting. We had an in person induction to meet the lecturer, our coach and the cohort which was super useful . We can book in 1-1s with our lecturer and we are on campus every three months for in person learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Really well
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I am apart of the salaam network which is a muslim network. It's great meeting like-mided people!

Yes
Why?
Amazing support from your manager, and schemes specialist.
So much to do at the BBC you can shadow many different teams ie music, sport, film etc
amazing people and work life balance is perfect. I rarely see anyone work after 5pm.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Please be yourself! They love authenticity and when it comes to the interview stage be curious, enthusiastic and fun! They love personality as well as remaining professional (of course). Connect with people on linkedin, speak to them - learn the bbc values and uphold them !
