Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Challenging being away from home with alot of theory/admin work. We spend time learning everyday with teachers who have been on the tools for years and passing on their knowledge to give us the best opportunity to succeed when going into the field. The theory is to learn the components and how the refrigeration cycle works, whilst you get the opportunity to go into the field in between and be on the tools.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the new challenge and being out of my comfort zone. Although you feel the pressure to do well, it can lead to a long term career with good career progression. It is tough in the classroom but being able to go into the field and put what you have learned into practise is rewarding. Whilst it comes with challenging sacrifices and being away from home, it gives you the opportunity to build good relationships with colleagues.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been able to use my previous experience on the tools to help me feel more comfortable in a new environment whilst learning a new role with different tools. It has given me motivation as the admin and looking after our own day is a big responsibility. When you want to do well and succeed in a role where you can progress quickly, I feel it gives you better time management and other skills in how you treat other people.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I feel there is room for improvement but we get asked in monthly reviews which makes us feel valued at the company
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We receive good support from the academy to the field, as they want to train their own engineers from scratch and stay long term
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I think they help us massively as they know what we need to work towards and support us with anything you may be struggling with. It can be challenging but if you are willing to work hard and show you want to be here in an important role it is worth it for the future. We are set targets and are regularly checked up on to see where we can improve and if we are achieving our set goals.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps us as we have set standards to reach. There are plans set in place for our assessments and deadlines to make sure we are on top of the work. What you learn in the theory gives you an advantage before going into the field which then becomes more clearer as we know what we are working on and why. The company also has support and staff to go to if you feel you may be struggling with mental health.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Social events, networking, dinners, charity work and opportunities to take your skills abroad
