Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day to day work involves travelling to sites, carrying out routine servicing, helping diagnose faults, and supporting experienced engineers. Every day is a learning day.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme and would rate it highly. I especially value the work culture among the engineers. Everyone I’ve met has been supportive, approachable, and genuinely helpful throughout my journey.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve already developed valuable skills during my time with the company. There’s a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service, which has helped me improve how I communicate with customers. At the same time, I’ve developed a more methodical approach to problem-solving when diagnosing and resolving issues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel that the structure in the company is good. However in most cases there is obviously room for improvement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The engineers and wider team are approachable and always willing to help, whether it’s with technical questions or day to day guidance. There is a strong focus on training and development, and I feel encouraged to ask questions and learn from every job I attend.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
There are always people within the business just a phone call or email away who are ready to help. If I ever struggle with any aspect of the job, there is always someone available to offer support and guidance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend MCFT to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend a friend to join the company for three reasons. Firstly, the work life balance is strong, as apprentices typically work Monday to Friday with relatively standard hours at the start of their journey. Secondly, the qualifications gained through MCFT are highly valuable and provide long term career benefits in a stable and ongoing industry. Lastly, the work culture, particularly among the engineers, is very positive. It’s a supportive environment where people genuinely want to see you succeed and are always willing to help.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MCFT?
It is a hands on role, so being proactive and showing enthusiasm goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, that is how you learn. It is all about how you move on from those mistakes. Lastly, be punctual and be kind to everyone.
