Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
As a Digital Construction Apprentice, my role involves supporting project teams by using digital tools, data, and technology to improve the delivery, coordination, and management of construction projects. I work across both office and site environments, helping to bridge the gap between traditional construction methods and modern digital processes.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as it allows me to work with the wider team whilst also doing my own personal journey.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Your role is to support the digital transformation of construction projects by making information more accurate, accessible, efficient, and securely managed. You act as the link between:
Technology
Site works
Design teams
Information management
This helps improve decision-making, reduces rework, supports safety, and enhances quality across the project lifecycle.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
My apprenticeship programme is well‑organised and clearly structured, giving me a good balance between practical site experience, digital skills development, and academic learning. I have a clear training plan that outlines what I need to achieve across each stage of the programme, including technical competencies, behavioural skills, and professional knowledge

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
On a day‑to‑day basis, the structure works well because:
✅ 1. I have a clear routine and expectations
I know which tasks I’m responsible for on projects.
My role within the team is defined, so I understand who to report to and who to learn from.
Weekly and monthly goals help keep my development on track.
✅ 2. My learning is planned and supported
I attend scheduled college days and training sessions.
My workplace tasks are aligned with the units I am studying.
I get opportunities to apply learning directly to live projects (e.g., BIM, CDE, digital tools, information management).
✅ 3. Regular reviews help me track progress
I have reviews with my manager/mentor to discuss skills, progress, and next steps.
I receive feedback that helps me improve and build confidence.
My targets are updated so the programme stays relevant and achievable.
✅ 4. The programme is flexible when needed
Tasks and responsibilities adapt depending on the stage of the project.
I can gain experience in different areas such as design, quality, sustainability, and digital tools.
If workload changes on site, my training plan adjusts so my development continues

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
1. Regular communication and guidance
My training provider keeps in touch through scheduled reviews, emails, and check‑ins.
I always know what units I’m working toward and what evidence I need to collect.
✅ 2. Helpful feedback on assignments
I receive clear feedback that explains what I’ve done well and what I need to improve.
When I submit work, the assessor provides guidance that strengthens my understanding and helps me meet the criteria.
✅ 3. Access to learning resources
I have access to online materials, lesson recordings, and templates that support my coursework.
The training provider signposts additional resources when I need extra support on a topic.
✅ 4. Support that links college learning to onsite tasks
They help me connect my learning to real project activities, which makes the theory easier to understand.
This also helps me build evidence for my portfolio using real tasks from my digital construction role.
✅ 5. Encouragement and pastoral support
If I have concerns or fall behind, my tutor is approachable and responds quickly.
They offer reassurance and help me plan how to stay on track.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I feel that my qualification supports me very well in performing my role, because the content I’m learning directly connects to the digital construction tasks I carry out on the HMP Glasgow project.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
