My role has expanded to include responsibility for supervising network improvement phases, providing design feedback, ensuring works comply with specifications, and confirming that existing highway assets are protected and correctly reinstated.

I have endeavoured into asset management through digital system ArcGIS and CAD plans to configure the running of existing drainage systems.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
My leadership and communication skills have also improved significantly. Through involvement in the SCE ICE conference organisation, I have built the confidence to speak up, contribute to discussions, and lead groups effectively.
In addition, I have strengthened my digital capability through the use of CAD modelling software, BIM, and ArcGIS systems, supporting both design understanding and asset information management.

After completing the initial two‑year programme, continued development is supported through the ‘Plus’ series, which offers more in‑depth learning on specific engineering topics such as concrete, earthworks, and geotechnics. This progression allows for a deeper technical understanding and continued professional growth.
