Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Project Coordinator, I act as a crucial cog in the machine. The PM may make the big decisions and be the face of the project, but you make it happen. From budget tracking to resource allocation, organising engineers and dealing with stakeholders are all regular tasks.
The upside is that every project is different and will require a new set of skills, downside is, if you don't enjoy it you may be stuck with it for a couple of months
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Its okay. IT really is just a job with a degree attached but you arent treated as a full employee by the managers but when on Projects you are expected to be as good as a full employee, despite no experience or tailored training.
Can feel at times you are left to your own devices and just have to try, poorly structured in comparison to the graduate scheme.
Besides that, the people are great and the customers are great, the benefit of the above is that you must learn to swim or you'll sink. Try hard and you'll be rewarded, there's also lots of additional activities to get involved in from Outreach to Bake Sales and inter company sport events

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Some, largely excel based experience.
Computacenter use lots of internal tools and so whilst those skills are good, not always completely transferrable

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
No
Why?
The people are excellent and the work life balance is great, you aren't expected to work beyond 1700 and the work isn't overly difficult.
For me I just find there isn't a real structure to my programme beyond finishing a degree, I don't feel that by the end of my course I could dropped in to a random project and be able to function as a good Project Coordinator. The focus is on my degree, not on professional development and for that I just feel there are better programmes that also pay more.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
Computacenter love exposure and people that work together, having a strong personal brand goes a really long way. In the assessment centre getting people to collaborate is extra brownie points, in the projects field there is lots of ongoing discussions and collaboration, being able to strike up a conversation with anyone makes you stand out
