Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
As a Technical Ad Operations specialist, you serve as the critical bridge between digital advertising strategy and technical execution. Your day-to-day involves architecting and deploying ad tags within systems like Google Ad Manager and WordPress, ensuring seamless campaign delivery through precise targeting and pacing rules. A major part of your role relies on front-end web troubleshooting (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to debug complex creative issues—such as fixing layout shifts caused by high-impact skin ads—ensuring they render perfectly without breaking a publisher's site. Additionally, you manage privacy compliance by validating Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) and act as a vital translator between developers, account managers, and clients to ensure all advertising infrastructure runs smoothly from staging to production.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Advanced Front-End Debugging: I have deepened my understanding of how ad code interacts with publisher environments. I've become much more proficient with browser developer tools to diagnose and fix complex CSS and layout shift issues, such as ensuring high-impact skin ads do not override native container widths or compress editorial content.
Ad Architecture & Migrations: I have expanded my knowledge of WordPress ad integration and Google Ad Manager (GAM) architecture. For example, while working on the JEP migration to the All Island Media GAM, I learned how to evaluate existing setups and plan the rebuilding and restructuring of ad units from scratch.
Environment Management & QA: I have strengthened my QA processes by better managing staging versus production environments. I am proactively ensuring that we use beta ad codes on staging to test new features safely before pushing them to live production environments.
Privacy & Compliance Validation: I have continued to develop my skills around user consent and privacy, specifically testing and validating Consent Management Platforms (like Sourcepoint) to ensure disclosed vendors are correctly signaled.
