Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
At Adopstar Ltd, I focus on developing custom websites and web applications tailored to client needs, utilizing technologies such as React.js, Next.js and Tailwind CSS. My work also involves ensuring accessibility, responsive design, and seamless integration with headless CMS platforms like Sanity CMS, Shopify, and WordPress. I contribute to tender writing, creating quotes, and delivering compelling presentations to clients.
With a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology, I am equipped with a strong foundation in web development and digital solutions. My passion lies in leveraging tools like Google Ads and Google Analytics to enhance online visibility for businesses. I am committed to staying updated with technological trends to deliver innovative and effective solutions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am currently undertaking a Level 4 DevOps Engineer apprenticeship with QA, and I can say I enjoy the programme to a great extent. It bridges the gap between theoretical software development and the fast-paced world of IT operations, which is exactly where I wanted my career to head.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
What I find most engaging are the modules on Automation and CI/CD pipelines. Using tools like Docker for containerisation and learning Infrastructure as Code (IaC) has completely changed how I view deployment. The QA platform provides hands-on labs that allow me to break things and fix them in a safe environment, which has been vital for my confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The program is highly structured around a digital by design approach. It isn't just a pile of textbooks, it’s broken down into distinct phases that allow you to balance work and study:
The course is divided into clear blocks (e.g., Systems and Architecture, Cloud Foundations, DevOps Methodologies). This logical flow ensures you aren't trying to learn advanced CI/CD before you understand basic Linux administration.
Virtual Classrooms & Labs: QA uses structured, week-long intensive learning blocks. These are followed by labs on demand, which provide a sandbox environment to practice without risking Adopstar’s live infrastructure.
The 20% Off-the-Job Structure: Because Adopstar is so supportive, this formal requirement is well-organized. You have a clear boundary between doing the job and learning the craft, which prevents burnout.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Adopstar’s "Live, Succeed, Learn, and Belong" values aren't just posters on the wall, they represent the actual environment.
The culture at Adopstar is built on the idea that everyone 'belongs,' which creates a psychologically safe environment to learn. I never feel like I'm a burden when I ask technical questions. The leadership team are always available for a chat.
Adopstar provides me with dedicated, uninterrupted time to focus on my QA modules. They recognise that my upskilling is an investment in the company's future. This protected time allows me to complete my labs and portfolio work without the stress of daily operational tasks bleeding into my study hours.
The support extends to my future goals. When I expressed an interest in pursuing an AI apprenticeship after my Level 4, the response was incredibly encouraging.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a high level of structured support from QA throughout my Level 4 DevOps programme. This is delivered through a dedicated skills coach, technical experts and a structured learning platform.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
QA’s technical modules, specifically CI/CD and Cloud Infrastructure, gives me the theoretical why behind the tasks I perform at Adopstar. The program’s focus on data and systems architecture which is directly preparing me for my next step into an AI apprenticeship, ensuring I can eventually apply machine learning to our operations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, Adopstar offers a variety of ways to get involved outside of technical DevOps work. We frequently host charity events, such as team quizzes and bingo nights, which are great for building relationships across different departments

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Adopstar to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Absolutely. I would recommend Adopstar to anyone looking for an apprenticeship because they don't just give you a job, they give you a career path.
They truly value upskilling, my 20% off-the-job training time is respected, and I’m given the high-spec tools and support I need to master my Level 4 DevOps curriculum.
The "Live, Succeed, Learn, and Belong" values are real. It’s a psychologically safe environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from others.
They don’t just care about the now. They are already supporting my ambition to progress into an AI apprenticeship once I finish my current qualification.
Between the charity quizzes and bingo nights, it’s a fun, social place to work where you genuinely feel part of a team.
Adopstar is the perfect place for someone who wants to work at the cutting edge of tech while being treated like a valued member of the family.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Adopstar?
You don't need to be an expert on day one. Be upfront about what you know and what you don't. Adopstar values authenticity over a perfect resume, they want to see the real you.
