Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My time is split between the external communications team and the internal communications team. I work on drafting press releases, writing programme information, promoting our content with the press and external stakeholders, and use social media platforms such as LinkedIn. I also write internal monthly newsletters, promote and plan internal events, and help with other internal work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I absolutely love working at the BBC and having the opportunity to work on a variety of different things. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and I feel as if I have a real responsibility in my role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I feel like I've learnt new skills such as newsletter writing, understanding the difference between communicating internally VS externally, and planning events. I feel as if I've developed my writing and communication skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My line managers have weekly catch-ups with me and talk with each other about my workload. They support my ambition in wanting to explore other aspects of the BBC, and I feel as if I have a good balance between responsibility and having a purpose at work and having too much to handle.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel well supported in all aspects.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider is supportive and encouraging about the support they provide and give. My learning is mainly online, which can provide some boundaries, but I feel supported and overall happy.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The skills coaches are helpful and encouraging, and overall I think the learning provider side is good. However sometimes I feel as if there's a little disconnect between my apprenticeship work and my role at the BBC, as my apprenticeship is marketing but my role is more PR and comms.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Plenty of opportunities for connection and other events outside of my day-to-day work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's such a welcoming, positive, creative and encouraging culture. A great opportunity to experience working for a world-leading service and feeling like you have a purpose and responsibility within your apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Think about the BBC's values, study what they do and think about what you can bring to the BBC.
