Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

During my role I have completed lots of training, gaining knowledge on how the company work and how to operate on engines. I have also wrapped engines and completed some component changes. I completed a big task which included removing the fan blades of an engine, and then cleaning them when removed. I have also completed PowerPoints on different subjects within engineering to show my knowledge. When I enter the building I will go and sit down, wondering if there is any work to do. If there is no work available for me I will complete other work consisting of my college work or the PowerPoints.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme, and I get great support from my mentor. He guides me to become the best of my ability and become the best engineer I can. He ensures everyone is safe when working, guiding us through difficult tasks.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt new skills within the workplace, including new engineering tasks, which consist of wire locking or some basic hand skills. I have developed more hand skills when operating on the fan blades or cutting out certain objects.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very organised with how we work. This can include us being told what work is available for us or what we can do if no work is available. There is also clear tasks on how we structure our college work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer. My employer helps me organise my work, with what I do, how i do it and when it is appropriate to do it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive lots of help with how I structure my work and what my exams are going to contain. We then go through and work as a group to gain the knowledge.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

They teach me what to improve within my work, so I can achieve the best of my ability.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some activates that we can all get involved in, building the relation within the workforce.

Why?
It is a place of work where everyone gets along, and the work is great for someone who has a passion in aviation. The work is very well structured and very interesting also.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to STS Engine Services?
I would give the advice of making sure you have the passion and the core values within the company, and that the company is a great place to work especially if you have a passion in aviation. You must have great integrity to fulfil your time at STS.
