Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role consists of looking at financial statements, and completing specific tests on financial statement balances to ensure that they are not over/understated and accurately represented. This involves client calls, sampling and agreeing balances back to invoices to verify there is no material financial misstatement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the programme. Though I do wish there were more opportunities as an audit degree apprentice to get involved with early careers, and speak to younger students etc about what a DA is really about, and why RSM

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to effectively communicate with clients- finding a middle between being warm and friendly, but also stern with what I need from them and not wavering from it.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I believe the programme is incredibly structured and organised- i know when i will be studying, and when my exams are up to 18 months in advance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We receive adequate support, with calls every few months at the start to help us on what we are learning on in college/uni so that we understand. They also do quarterly check-ins to look at progress of you on your apprenticeship and seek ways to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Great support- there are hubs to speak to tutors on if you're stuck and didnt ask a question in lesson, and theres also the hub which has videos and question/answers for each topic breakdown.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It provides a good understanding and helps me to actually put the numbers into context. With this deeper understanding I can then evaluate whether these numbers look to high/low and what could be affecting the figures in the financial statements.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are socials to go to, usually atleast one a quarter. You are also able to get involved with early career activities such as going to school workshops and speaking at young professionals events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel like they really try to pour into you. You arent just a figure or a young person to exploit and churn work out of you so you leave afterward. You are a person to develop, personally too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSM?
Be your authentic self, thats who they really want at RSM!
