Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day I work as a Production Coordinator for a musical documentary team, with training for this bi-monthly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
A lot!! I'm learning so much in a very welcoming environment, with opportunities to go on a range of sets, and have my work broadcasted on TV!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes - a lot of copyright knowledge, on-set experience, making and distributing call-sheets, post-production editing - essentially everything that goes into the making of TV!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well-structured and organised, with a clear schedule of training, on-the-job experience, and mentorship. Each stage builds on the last, so you steadily develop practical skills while understanding how the BBC works across different departments.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Very supported - I have bi-weekly scheduled catchups with my line manager, and monthly calls with the apprentice leader.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Plenty - we have blocked off three day training sessions away from our job role, solely dedicated to training.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification really helps me perform better - it gives me the skills and knowledge I need, which I can apply straight away on the job to work more confidently and effectively.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
BBC Club! A great way to save money and socialise.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I’d recommend a BBC apprenticeship because you get to learn on the job while actually working in the industry. You’re gaining real experience, meeting people across radio, TV, and digital, and getting paid while you do it. It’s a great way to get your foot in the door without the usual unpaid internship route.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
One tip I’d give is to really understand the ethos of the BBC. It’s about public service and creating content that informs, educates, and entertains. In your application, show that you get that mission, but also think about how you could help enhance it - whether that’s reaching new audiences or bringing fresh ideas to their platforms.
