Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Doing outdoor activities as an instructor, you're able to run sessions with public groups, schools, youth groups, clubs, etc. Showing them a world in the outdoors and that limitations are only what we make them while also learning yourself. Meeting new people, teaching them how to ski, snowboard, climb, archery, axe throwing, team building, etc. And working with a group to help them improve!
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Very enjoyable! Get to meet loads of new people and really just have fun. Learn so so many new skills you'd never normally try otherwise and take advantage of being outside not locked away.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I can do so much now that I couldn't before. I can ski, snowboard, do archery, air rifle, axe throwing, caving, climbing and so much more!

Very well structured, you get a mix of learning days, work days and eight college days a year.

I am now able to competently run sessions on my own teaching activities I couldn't do a year ago.

Everyone is going out all the time, just hop along. Wether its going out paddling, climbing, caving, etc just hop along!

It's an amazing opportunity to do something different and good to be outside for your mental health and a different work environment that is rare to find normally.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MENDIP ACTIVITY CENTRE?
Be unique, be you. We love people who aren't afraid to be crazy and have a fun personality. Be happy, laugh, enjoy what you're doing and never hold back, be you.
