Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I have been editing everyday as apart of my apprenticeship, being put on real projects and getting edit assistant credits! i get so many opportunities to visit other teams which is really exciting and lets me network with so many professionals.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love this programme! its a level 4 apprenticeship so im getting a qualification but more importantly im getting real work experience which gives me a huge boost in my career. my manager trusts me to put me on important projects and i have the creative ability to do my own edits to be put on air!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
previously i had very little experience in knowing editing software, and now i know almost every single one confidently which is something i could never have done alone (partly because they are so expensive) i have also used studio cameras and have done mock broadcasts as apart of my training which has boosted my skills and given me wider knowledge of the industry

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
i have 3 university blocks each lasting 3-4 weeks where i learn all the technical elements to the apprenticeship, making sure i am able to pass it well, with time each week where i can add to my learning any way i want. also there are so many different opportunities i can ask to do/ get invited to do, i gain so much more than just the skills from the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
since being at the BBC, i have had multiple checkins from my manager, the university people, and my schemes specialist that make sure i am happy, on track with the apprenticeship or give me help and support to get me back on track, and also find opportunities for me to do!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
i have 'tripartite reviews' with the university where they check to see how im doing, and our lecturer is always on his emails if we have any questions about our coursework which he will happily answer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
through my training provider, i have learnt avid and resolve (editing software) which has helped me in my job immensely. also knowing the theoretical how everything works and why helps me understand what im doing and why, and also helps me answer questions or join in on technical convorsations with collegues.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
there is a huge apprentice community at work, where i have heard about netball, and even a diving group that i could join. there are many events that happen internally, but we will be given time off work and paid travel if there were other networking events that we would be interested in going to.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
the work experience you get alone makes the BBC a beneficial place to work and i am really enjoying the aspects of the apprenticeship as they get tailored for me specifically so i get freedom to do what interests me most!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
be yourself! they want to know who you are as a person and not who you think they would want you to be. they dont expect you to know all the answers to the questions they give you or else why are you applying to the apprenticeship! also make sure you show your passion for the job and specifically why the BBC would be the best company for you to work for :)
