Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
The role of an HR Apprentice involves supporting the HR team while developing foundational knowledge and practical skills across key people processes. An HR Apprentice typically assists with day‑to‑day administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, updating HR systems, scheduling meetings, and preparing documents. They help ensure accurate data handling and compliance with policies such as GDPR, especially when managing sensitive information.
HR Apprentices often provide first‑line support to employees by responding to basic queries about policies, payroll, leave, and benefits. They may also help coordinate recruitment activities—posting job adverts, screening applications, arranging interviews, and supporting onboarding processes. In addition, they contribute to employee lifecycle events, including contract changes, probation tracking, and learning and development activities.
A key part of the role is learning how HR supports organisational goals. Apprentices gain experience with people analytics, employee engagement, wellbeing initiatives, and casework exposure under supervision. They develop skills in communication, organisation, teamwork, and problem‑solving while studying towards a professional qualification such as the CIPD.
Overall, an HR Apprentice plays an important support role within the HR function while building the capability and confidence needed for progression into future HR positions.
