Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role focuses on co-ordination and logistics - booking flights and accommodation, and scheduling and budgeting our documentary projects. I get to work with the editorial team and help make their programmes a reality.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am learning practical and useful skills which I can directly apply to my work, and I really enjoy collaborating with the professional team and learning from them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I've definitely learned my way around a spreadsheet, how to budget and schedule projects realistically, and improved my logistical planning with the support of my colleagues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There is a good balance between studying with my tutor group/class, and then working with my team. In the workplace, there is less structure, but I find the classwork supplements and provides structure so that I can apply what I've learned to my work, like a regular employee.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am regularly asked if I need support and have multiple ports of call if I need help/adjustments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I am regularly asked if I need support and have multiple ports of call if I need help/adjustments. Questions are answered promptly, and we are regularly told what we need to present in our final portfolio assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Not a lot of extracurricular groups are advertised for apprentices or staff - they may be informal ,so hard to find. There is 'bbc club' which advertises events but you need to pay to be a member, and the perks/events do not justify the price for me. There are employee networks which focus on social issues/groups, but nothing like university societies/clubs.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Everyone is lovely to work with - a really positive workplace environment which is very inclusive. They are constantly looking to improve on themselves, as a company and in the content they make, and promote employee progression.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Don't give up! Think about yourself as a person, and your values, and how you can bring a positive influence and work ethic to your role, when applying.
