Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
So as I'm a production apprentice, my role includes a big range. My first task of the day is transcribing the morning show 'dros frecwast', and mailing the transcript and a summary to the Cymru Fyw team in order for them to get the latest headlines. I then attend the daily meeting of the digital content team, where we discuss clips that can be used on social media and delegate jobs. My role within this team specifically is to edit clips of radio visualisation for social media use. On a few occasions as of now I've made original social media content to advertise specific programs, presenting a few myself.
I am also a part of Radio Cymru's sister station's team, Radio Cymru 2. My responsibilities within this role include:
- writing segments for presenters
- contacting individuals to guest on program/ send voice notes
- editing music clips for program segments
- voice acting for trails
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The work I've been given is very enjoyable. i really love writing and editing. I find the work flow a bit frustrating as my co-workers run a very tight ship which makes it difficult to find work without having to pester for it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes i would say! many of which have been internal to the BBC and outside the organisation are rather useless to me, but skills none the less

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
As I am the second apprentice of radio Cymru Bangor EVER, I've feel that there are some formatting issues when it comes to my development and how I fit into the work space. I've been told to be more proactive rather than reactive, but without clear guide lines of which department I'm in or real agency to create content individually that will be published, it feels a bit as if there isn't the time for my path to be shaped out by mt co-workers.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Sgil Cymru are very supportive and clearly want to help people get into the industry. I believe they can see me as a person.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The experiences my training provider offer have been very beneficial, mostly in terms of networking. The reports we're made to write as of now have not been very helpful, but these are general ones everyone in my cohort had to complete and were mostly to do with film and TV production. Later on I will be doing courses specialised to me which will likely be much more beneficial.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
not to my knowledge... i know some group within my team go to the pub together sometimes.
