Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As one of the Diversity and Inclusion Leads for Wales, I help oversee and support outreach and engagement across multiple teams as well as my own. I play a key role in coordinating bespoke tours and initiatives designed to welcome underrepresented demographic groups into the building, giving them valuable insight into potential careers. My day-to-day involves fostering inclusive opportunities, strengthening community connections and driving forward meaningful representation across the BBC and the wider talent.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my job because every day always brings something new and genuinely exciting. The variety of opportunities i get, alongside the wide range of work i can get involved in, keeps me constantly learning, making new connections and growing as a person. No two days every look the same and that sense of purpose makes my role so rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I recently completed a staff training course called "Develop Your Presence" and it has genuinely transformed me, i feel like a new person. the course has boosted my confidence so much and helped me show up stronger in both professional and personal settings. On top of that, I've strengthened my communication, time management and organisational skills, especially now that i rely on my calendar every single day to keep things running smoothly.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As I am the first Business Admin apprentice for BBC Cymru Wales, everyone who is giving me support is still learning about the programme themselves. Nevertheless, after everything gets figured out the structure from BBC is amazing. My learning provider has been a bit confusing in the first few months but me and my cohort had a call with the scheme manager and he answered all of our questions then everything made sense.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive an amazing amount of support from the BBC, which makes such a difference in my confidence and growth. I am always being encouraged and helped to navigate new challenges. Knowing i have a strong support system helps me to develop and push myself every day
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support i receive from my learning provider is good and they are always willing to help when i need it. However, the communication between us isn't frequent which can make it harder to stay fully updated. Even so, the monthly calls still provide me guidance and reassurance that the support is still there.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I have only completed 2 out of 6 of the assignments so far, so I don't feel like I've developed many new skills from the qualification yet. Because of this, it's been harder to recognize any major progress n my learning journey. Hopefully this will change as I get further into the course when new opportunities in the criteria come up to develop my skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a few apprentice socials happening soon and there have be a couple that have happened in the past. In some opportunities I come across in the BBC the apprentices have an opportunity to work together which is nice.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Similarly to what I said a few questions back, I have had so many opportunities within my 6 months of being here which I would have never got if I was anywhere else. Anyone I speak to I cannot recommend the BBC enough.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Show your passion in your application, be yourself and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise!
