Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Solicitor Apprentice at Attwells. I have worked at Attwells for 1 and a half years. During m first year, I worked within our compliance and training department, helping to review processes, implement policies and assist with career events within our community/local schools. Currently I am in my second year and in our Conveyancing department. I assist the property team with their transactions to ensure they successfully progress to completion. This involves taking calls with clients/brokers/estate agents, emailing clients with updates, liaising with third party professionals such as land registry and generally progressing files.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I have been given countless opportunities so far to progress not only my legal knowledge, but also my practical skills massively. Every day is different and we are encouraged to learn and ask for help when needed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have massively improved my confidence with public speaking, which I have done through attending and presenting many career talks at local schools and sixth forms. Also, my time management and prioritisation skills have significantly improved since starting in 2024, as working in Conveyancing which is very fats paced, you need to be able to adapt to this environment and know what tasks to prioritise/order which I have improved on

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured. Our team and my managers are firm with ensuring we have adequate time off work to study. This is currently one day a week (20% of the week) where we have dedicated to studying and our work/emails are covered, which ensures I am progressing with my degree/apprenticeship efficiently.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There are many people to support me. For example, we have a dedicated training team which ensure we are up to date with all of our legal training, but also we have practical skills training to improve these necessary skills. We also have our Early Careers Officer who is there to support us through our apprenticeship, and also our own line managers in our legal departments who are always there to answer any queries we have with our legal work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My University are very good at keeping me informed and ensuring I have a clear pathway to follow, to ensure I know exactly what I need to do on my study days/lead up to exams
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
There are lots of knowledge I have learnt through my university that I can apply to my legal work within my role as a conveyancing assistant. For example I am currently learning Land Law which is crucial to my work in Property and is helping me to add my work into context in the Law
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are always career events going on that take place at local sixthforms/schools that we can get involved with to promote the important of apprenticeships.
