Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
You spend 3 months on placement and 3 months at university. You’re constantly learning knew skills and knowledge regarding the broadcasting chain, learning about the technology that powers a renown broadcaster and about how the people involved in innovating and maintaining these systems work and operate. It’s a fascinating career with like-minded people and I would thoroughly recommend.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Computer systems, electrical engineering, networking, coding, people skills, asset management, specialised software training, av technologies.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Incredibly well, our scheme advisors and their commitment and professionalism is a credit to the organisation. Aside from arranging our placements, university accommodation, expenses, facilitating training and helping us get settled there is no question or issue too small that they won’t help to alleviate. They are the lifeblood of the scheme and we’d be lost without them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Weekly check-ins and a supportive team who have unbridled empathy and patience. No such thing as a silly question.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Time, expense and support in whatever format required. They’re incredibly supportive in helping people to grow and the quality of training is superb.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Its matches the roles in numerous ways and gives me the knowledge needed so I can apply it in my day-to-day roles/activities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The BBC has a myriad of groups and networks that as an apprentice you can access from the get go.
