Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I worked across BBC Children's and Education to do three placements - YouTube and Social Media, Commissioning, Digital Production.
They were all creative roles and I was given the opportunity to build a strong skill set in content creation and the world of Children's TV.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I had a wonderful time on my apprenticeship. I felt very welcomed and supported throughout. It was great to have a large cohort of fellow apprentices as a network too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learnt SO many new skills. I learnt how to be a confident editor of digital content, strategy behind why we create specific content and how to help it succeed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Extremely organised. From the moment the apprenticeship started I felt like I new what I was doing and where I needed to be.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Anytime I asked for advice, support or guidance I felt extremely supported. They always had time for me and helped with my career ambitions. Even after the apprenticeship I feel incredibly supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I had an excellent time with the BBC side of my apprenticeship. I felt incredibly supported and cannot fault a single part of it. However, my training provider, Bauer Media, was the total opposite. We had a lot of issues as a cohort and it was all very unorganised causing some stress before our End Point Assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The skills Iearnt while at the BBC have massively supported me to work in the industry. I have secured a fixed term contract and have hopes to stay on at the BBC.
With Bauer our learning was limited and wasn't to the standard that the BBC taught me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is always opportunities to do extra work, go to events and volunteer while on the BBC apprenticeship. This led to me travelling, going to festivals, studios and so much more. The apprenticeship is definitely what you make it.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is such a positive place to work with endless learning opportunities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
To keep applying even if you don'[t get it the first time. It took me two years of applying and I am so glad i did.
