Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Being part of the Change team in Asset Management, my role as a business analyst included learning to create clear PowerPoint slides for meetings to communicate key ideas and processes to different stakeholders, tracking onboarding requests, building pivot tables using data on Excel, using Excel to track data, ensuring project risks and issues are updated every month.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy how varied the role is, being part of a big project gives me a good understanding of different roles aside from a business analyst. I enjoyed being able to get involved in a big variety of tasks and received great support from my team throughout my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills including, using Excel to track data, creating clear, visual and consistent PowerPoint slides that are used in working groups, gained technical skills including how to create swim lanes and pivot tables. Contributed into completing important documents such as a project closure report and accession letters.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is very balanced. I am working 4 days and have 1 day a week to completely focus on my apprenticeship course which is very important to me to focus on the theory. I also have weekly webinars which are recorded in case I am unable to attend any. BPP provides a well organised hub to complete pre learning activities to prepare me for my webinars and reflection activities and quizzes to test my learning. I was assigned a mentor and buddy to support me throughout my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive a good amount of support from my employer. My manager has scheduled weekly meetings to keep up with my progress and to offer support when needed. I also work closely with my assigned buddy who supports me with tasks when I am stuck or struggling to complete. I also receive support from a colleague who walks me through a Business Analysis book to help me with my apprenticeship. I have a mentor who I don't work closely with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider has assigned me a coach to get help with anything I need regarding to my apprenticeship, however | find that he always takes a while to get back to me when I ask questions or request for support with my assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I find that the theory I am learning helps me completing my business analysis tasks a lot, it reinforces my learning and my work helps me put it in real work tasks. It provides me with a very good introduction to the business analyst role and all the different technical skills needed to complete tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
M&G offers a lot of opportunities to get involved with early careers events and networking events through investment 2020. So far, I had the opportunity to attend schools to talk about my experience of being an apprentice to students who are potentially looking to do an apprenticeship, I have attend industry insight events and networking events with other apprentices in London and have had opportunities to help internally with the apprenticeship application process.
