Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Across my apprenticeship, I undertake 5 different annual roles in different project environments, with the opportunity to travel across the various different business areas.
I both shadow the business' project professionals and lead on a broad range of activities. I am awarded greater responsibility over the course of my scheme as I develop both as an individual and project professional.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
5 stars

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Microsoft Excel, Leadership, Stakeholder engagement/Communication, Forecasting, Planning and Deployment

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say that my programme is well-structured, however throughout my time here, my business have been very indecisive about our approach to capturing evidence. Our University programme has us working remotely more often as we progress through the scheme, which can be frustrating at times.
I have quarterly Learner Progress Reviews, which are great for intaking positive feedback from Line Managers and reaffirming progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Placement managers are great. They are always available to support and there is 'never a stupid question'. However, we do not sit beneath our placement managers, but Early Careers, who seem to be consistently understaffed. They will always reply to emails or requests for support, but I do not always feel that they are SQEP to respond to the requests for support that they may receive. e.g: placement-based stress- only ever a 'wellbeing' approach to support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My University Degree is the main area for concern when considering this question. It quite often seems that the University does not understand what we are actually doing within our work-based placements, whilst their method of delivery has always been questionable. Content is often thrown into a presentation solely because it relates, but has no true value, whilst I have found that the lecturers do not always fully understand what they are teaching. It is common for our training provider to listen more actively to the University, rather than their apprentices. The University has frequently requested feedback but rarely applies it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have often found that the theory learnt through my APM-accredited qualifications and Degree have contributed positively to my perform in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extracurricular activities to get involved with. I have been involved in lots of stretch assignments, as well as APM challenges and conferences, which have enabled me to travel more than I would have expected whilst on an apprenticeship scheme. I am also aware of previous ski trips and BAE- Royal Navy football games.
