Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The bioresouces team is a niche department in Northumbrian Water, we treat human waste and recycle that waste into what is known as biosolids. Then, in the North East region, we sell the biosolids to farmers to grow their crops. So, on a day-to-day basis i will, collect samples and send them off to be tested for salmonella and e-coli for due dillegence. I can upload data onto our compliance database as everything needs to be logged. I will also take soil samples and have meetings wirh farmers to discuss things such as; crops, tonnage and stockpile locations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I highly enjoy my programme. I get hands on/ practial experience as well as time in the office. Meaning my days are differed giving me that excitement everyday as its not repetitve. Learning about compliance is also great as the environment is always changing, so keeping up with the laws is always beneficial.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my commuinicative skills by going out and networking with opportunities presented to me. This is also through going to meet the agricultrual community which is very new to me, meaning i have developed my skills as i can talk to people i have less in common with.

My programme is quite organised. I have time to complete my college work and lectures as well as help out my team in the workplace where necessary. Having that structured college/ work balance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support is recieved. And i know if i ever struggle, i can talk to my team openly for more support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I recieve a lot of support. Reviews are made with my training provider and line manager, so everyone knows where/ if im on track and how to support me if i'm not.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My training provider asks me to complete my assignments which are direct to my role. Meaning i can now apply scenarios at work day-to-day directly through what ive been learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many networking opportunties to get involved in such as apprentice catch ups, apprentice meetings, roadshows and business events.
