Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Throughout my time at Visa, I helped my team in monitoring inbound sales queues, account mapping/profiling, and prospecting organisations that we were targeting under current sales initiatives.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Visa recognises that the applicants for internship roles may have little to no experience in a corporate environment, and therefore is careful not to throw any of its interns straight into the deep end. Having said this, you can expect to be given responsibility over any intern-led group projects and individual projects you will have throughout the duration of your internship - all of which are manageable yet meaningful towards wider company objectives!

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Whilst doing any type of internship at Visa, you can expect to learn how Visa functions as a multinational organization, how to effectively navigate and use its tools and systems which are, but most importantly how to work within a team full of unique and diverse individuals. If applying for a sales related role, you can also expect to learn Visa's sales methodology and how to communicate with current and potential clients.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Both my team and manager were super helpful in guiding me throughout my internship and helping me develop professional skills that I believe will stand me in good stead for the future. I also feel that Visa's corporate culture is one that encourages curiosity, learning, and thinking outside-the-box, and as a result everyone is more than happy to answer any questions that you may have, whether you know them personally or not.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Working with such a diverse group of people has been fantastic, and what brings everyone in Visa together is the same core values we all believe in. Working in the Reading office also provides a great balance of work/leisure; on lunchbreaks you are able to bond with the other interns, your team, or any other staff members over a game of pool, table tennis, or table football in the games room.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship this summer, and would relive the opportunity if I could. Although I was apprehensive to step through the doors of one of the world's most recognised companies, everyone was super friendly, welcoming, and great fun to be around. From speaking to others doing internships elsewhere, I can safely say Visa goes above and beyond to create engaging, rewarding and exciting opportunities for all of their interns.

What advice would you give to others applying to Visa
For your application, the one piece of advice I would give would be to be yourself... I appreciate that it may sound wildly cliche but Visa really does want to see who you are - not who you are trying to be - during your application process, and I have no doubt that if you are yourself in your interviews your chance of success will be much higher.
