My time with compass has been and is continuing to be an incredible experience.
During my previous role as hospitality supervisor apprentice, I learnt all about hospitality from bottom to top whilst being given responsibility to have my own team delivering hospitality in the worlds most used arena the O2.
I would come in around lunch time to attend meetings and to set up paperwork for the afternoon/evening events. I would then go upstairs to suite level to brief our team along side the full time management team prepping them for the event ahead. We would then be operational in delivering the events, providing world class hospitality. I did all this whilst also creating and developing new cocktail offerings and whilst completing my apprenticeship.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I found the program incredibly informative, I learnt a lot about the industry both in house and at other venues. Those involved were incredibly supportive and made the experience not just work but also fun!

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have both learnt new skills, on top of developing my pre existing skills such as dealing with customers in difficult situations, which I had a minor understanding of from my time in retail.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program was incredibly well structured and organised with scheduled calls in place throughout the year to both push and check in on the development. It also ran on time which is a credit to all involved and the organisation involved.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received an incredible amount of support. Both face to face, and online. I knew I could always reach out to my well being manager or the Director of Skills and Early Careers with any concerns or queries.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I was delightfully supported from my training provider and more importantly
. Who both coached and supported me through the entire apprenticeship. Pushing me towards distinction.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has boosted both my understanding but also my delivery in my role. At times balancing the apprenticeship and work was tricky but all doable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we both in our venue host many social activities but also have wider networking events every now often to get to know others on a professional level.

Be yourself, understand the companies beliefs and goals. I would also suggest connecting with those who are in a similar position to the jobs you are applying for to gain extra support and guidance.
