As an HSE Apprentice at Eurovia my core responsibility was to support the Health,Safety and Environment team in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and help maintain a safe, positive working culture across our sites. My role combined hands on experience, and contributions to real safety initiatives whilst also developing professional competence in SHE management.

I thoroughly enjoyed my HSE Apprenticeship it gave me the perfect balance of hands on experience, real responsibility, and continuous learning. I loved getting out onto site, working with different teams, and seeing how my contributions helped make the workplace safer and more efficient. Every day brought something new, and the support from the HSE team helped me grow in confidence, skills, and understanding of the industry. Looking back I’m very proud of what I have achieved and grateful for the support and opportunities this appraising gave me.

During my apprenticeship I developed a wide range of technical and personal skills that strengthened my confidence and capability in the industry. I gained practical experience in conducting site inspections, safety tours, audits and reviewing risk assessments, building a solid understanding of workplace hazards, safe systems of work and construction related risks. I strengthened my knowledge on legislation, incident investigation and safety reporting systems. I also developed vital communication and teamwork skills by closely working with the HSE team, contributing to safety briefings, engaging with site personnel to promote positive behaviours and interventions. These experiences not only improved my technical ability but also helped me grow in my professionalism, adaptability and confidence as an emerging HSE advisor.
