Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

• Daily site diaries to track progress and flag any issues disrupting progress.
• Carry out weekly health and safety inspections on site ensuring relevant procedures are followed and raising any issues to site supervisors.
• Lead weekly meetings with sub-contractors and package managers to discuss site progress, quality and health & safety.
• Assisting a safe to start presentation on reinforced concrete structures.
• Assisted the running of a work experience day for Year 10 students interested in engineering.
• Proof reading Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) before being submitted to sub-contractors.
• Keeping a daily log of SPUK (sheet piling UK) progress for the attenuation tank excavation.

Improved ability to track construction progress through site walks and inspections.
Developed better communication skills by working with site supervisors, subcontractors and package managers.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Plenty. Assistant Package Managers gave lots of insights and offered explanations when needed, gave daily tasks and gave responsibility for the Work Package.
Package managers and Senior Package Managers were very useful in understanding aspects.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Great. there was 5 aside football across the site which allowed me to network with others.
BBVS team were very welcoming.
