Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I am a quantity surveyor for Ringway (owned by vinci), and I track / manage the costs of construction projects within the county of Surrey. I communicate with colleages, solve problems, and learn, on a daily basis.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I enjoy my work, as I am treated like an adult, allowed to take on more responsibility, and I get to learn more every single day, all whilst studying

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have developed my professionalism throughout the duration of my past and current apprenticeship. I credit this to the people I have been so lucky to work with, as they set a strong example of how to conduct myself within the workplace. I am able to ask those around me questions on a regular basis, which has allowed me to improve my skills greatly.
I have been on several training courses also, and not to mention the academic courses which accompany my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
I regularly communicate with my line manager and other apprentices, and we regularly discuss areas of difficulty, areas we need to improve in etc. We plan for the future, and I am trained in a task / workstream before assuming full responsibility for it.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
We communicate weekly - and I have several clear avenues of support

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I am allowed study days to revise - and I am able to mention if I am struggling, which I will then receive more support for

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
It is great having the technical knowledge, it helps me to understand processes and other things. But I think an often overlooked skill you develop through juggling work responsibilities and academic studies, is the ability to manage time and the importance of it.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
There are several, such as early careers networking events - social value events - football tournaments. These are just a few. I am currently undertaking the Duke of Edinborough Gold award through work, which is something I never thought I'd be able to do! And I am extremely grateful for the opportunities porovided to me
