Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

i spend most days running the shop floor and working stock and tills. i am responsible for cashing up tills and monitoring staff members throughout the day as well as setting tasks to complete on the shop floor. i also work deliveries and complete other various managerial tasks
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i have really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far, having completed level 2 beforehand. the coursework provides very fun challenges and i enjoy the feedback i receive. i have learnt things i will definitely be able to take forwards with me in future careers
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i’ve learnt a lot of new skills with ALDI, especially things like safe handling and D&I policies etc. i’ve learnt to manage a team and prioritise jobs as well as lots of IT skills in different areas within my role

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the organisation lacks some, i found my level 2 there was a lot more support and enthusiasm regarding my learning as compared to now. i don’t get much training anymore and tend to be left to my own devices to complete my work. check ups are made my lifetime but not in my workplace by other managers etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i am supported in that i get the time needed to complete my work, but not when it comes to support with training or updates. i tend to only be given updates when it’s essential and i am not asked about my progress regarding my apprenticeship work unless i bring it up.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i receive lots of support from lifetime regarding my work and training. my tutor is always fast to respond and she will go above and beyond for me to help in any way she can. i feel like i can complete the work confidently without issue and if i run into any problems they are more than happy to help solve these
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i feel the qualifications help in the role greatly, i’ve learnt lots of management styles through this and can see what does and doesn’t work within the store. i feel confident in my position now and have the knowledge to back up and defend my choices when needed
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

we have a very tight knit of people at work and often socialise outside of work. this i really enjoy and i get on very well with my staff members

Why?
i think overall it is a great company to work for, especially when it comes to apprenticeships and learning skills. they support you where they can and there is lots to learn from the offset very quickly. i have enjoyed my apprenticeships and am looking forward to the next steps
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
don’t be discouraged if you are rejected the first time round. i applied a few times and it took a couple weeks for me to be invited to interview. it is a very fast paced store where you are expected to learn quickly and keep up so keep that in mind when you start. if you are a friendly, eager to learn and adaptable person you should really enjoy the work environment
