Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
First year, understanding the regulations, legislations, company policies and mandatory government policies. Completing a portfolio based on the knowledge of the company and performing an exam meeting to show my understanding of my job role. Basics like stacking shelves, being mindful of pallets times, putting my learning into practise on the shop floor, showing initiative and innovation to contribute to the business, success.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
First year I struggled with motivation towards the programme I'm not sure if this was because I felt I was not challenged enough and wanted something more out of it or just from a mental point of view. The 2nd year started off strong with the opportunity to move forward and have more responsibility and practical learning rather than mainly computer based but I feel currently there is a decline in the challenge and growth and I am already a couple months into the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Customer service, people skills, multi-tasking, team working, strong initiative. Time management, problem solving.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Organised I would say work wise, I would want more meetings with my teacher rather than once a month because I learn better in person that teaching myself over some computer sent work. Structured wise it is fine I just think that if something is out into place we need to stick to it so I can be involved and challenged to keep focus on my task targets for the end point assessment and have enough physical evidence to support my journey .
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I do get given some opportunities and I do understand that I only get 6hrs per week training but I do feel as though there hasn't been much progression in the sense of today we have planned you this or let's have a look at your diary so we can book in x,y,z. I know communication is a 2 way things but I do feel as though I could be given more to give that boost of motivation and consistent interest.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Once a month meeting with teacher. Like mentioned before would like to have more one to one sessions every 2 weeks maybe just so that I am on the ball with work and what I can do from my end to communicate with my manager so we can plan things for practical learning. When having the session I do feel better and understanding things better and we tackle slot of the work and address what work I struggle with and how to overcome it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Got double distinction in 1st year. Think this shows that my knowledge was strong and my performance was the best it could be. This motivated me and I was excited to move onto year 2. I think the grades and what I achieved are not only down to myself but also from my training provider as he has adapted the way he has taught me so that I understand better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would say yes as they are a good company with a good reputation. It's a starting point to grow within the company, learn new skills and progress in many ways. I have personally felt like I have grown so much since being here and I would say if your looking for something after school leavers then I would say jump straight into the apprenticeship as you earning and learning.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Communicate, get stuck in, don't be shy to make suggestions which you may think help the store, company and what can benefit you with learning. Start as soon as possible. Rather than leaving it just get stuck in with everything. Itan be daunting at first but you soon get used to the pace, targets and you have the team to help you.
