Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
In my role as a Business Analyst within GIS Workplace – Development Services, I’m responsible for governing and optimising Computacenter’s Microsoft 365 and Power Platform landscape. I work across SharePoint, Teams, Dataverse, automation tooling, and our broader governance frameworks to ensure that solutions are secure, compliant, cost‑effective, and aligned with business needs. My position combines analysis, advisory support, and operational leadership—covering everything from DLP policies and custom connector reviews to AI adoption, environment strategy, and platform compliance.
Day to day, I diagnose and resolve complex platform issues, support colleagues with licensing and environment queries, manage governance workflows, and maintain oversight across our Dev/Test/Prod environments. I create guidance materials and one‑pagers, collaborate closely with technical and product teams, analyse capacity and operational data, and lead or contribute to transformation initiatives. I also drive continuous improvement in Power Platform governance and AI‑enabled optimisation, while stepping into leadership responsibilities whenever needed to support the wider team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I’m really enjoying my AI Business Value Apprenticeship because it’s providing me the perfect blend of practical learning, strategic thinking, and hands‑on experimentation. The programme has strengthened my confidence in applying AI to real business challenges, especially around governance, automation, and data‑driven optimisation within Power Platform and M365. I’ve particularly valued how each module connects theory to real‑world impact, allowing me to immediately bring new ideas back into my team—whether that’s through improving processes, exploring AI‑assisted forecasting, or shaping future governance models. The structured guidance, supportive coaches, and opportunities to collaborate with peers have made the experience genuinely engaging, and I feel it’s accelerated both my technical understanding and my ability to drive meaningful transformation in my role.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Through my AI Business Value Apprenticeship, I’ve significantly strengthened both my technical and analytical capabilities, building on existing skills while developing new ones across AI fundamentals, data literacy, responsible AI, and business analysis. I’ve learned how to identify high‑value AI opportunities, shape business cases, assess organisational maturity, and evaluate data governance and operational readiness - skills i've managed to reflectdirectly in my day to day work.
I’ve also deepened my ability to apply AI thinking to real Computacenter challenges through project work like AIBV - Project Work - CC Maturity in AI, developing stronger strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and change‑management skills. Overall, the programme has helped me grow in confidence, sharpen my analytical approach, and better understand how to deliver measurable business value with AI.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
From my perspective, one of the things I appreciate most about the AIBV programme is how well‑organised and clearly structured it is from start to finish. Every stage—beginning with the onboarding and ‘Flying Start’, followed by the taster modules, and then progressing through a sequence of well‑designed workshops, assignments, and applied learning—flows logically and gives me a clear sense of direction. Each module builds on the last, with clear expectations, action items, and learning objectives that help me understand exactly what I’m developing and why. I also value the consistency of the format across modules, the balance of theory and hands‑on practice, and the way the programme roadmap is laid out from the very beginning. It makes the whole experience feel purposeful, structured, and easy to navigate, which has helped me stay focused, organised, and motivated throughout my apprenticeship journey.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
From my point of view, I feel genuinely well supported by my employer throughout my AIBV apprenticeship. Computacenter makes it clear from the outset that they are fully invested in my success, with structured guidance, clear expectations, and ongoing communication that help me stay on track. The formal training plan outlines exactly how the business, my line manager, and my coach work together to support my development, and the Early Careers team regularly checks in, offers advice, and ensures I have access to the resources, adjustments, and time I need to learn effectively. Whether it’s aligning on objectives, managing off‑the‑job learning, attending tripartite meetings, or simply knowing that help is there whenever I need it, I feel consistently encouraged and backed by my employer at every stage of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
I feel extremely well supported by my training provider throughout my apprenticeship. Multiverse provides clear, consistent guidance at every stage—whether it’s helping me understand the programme structure, offering dedicated coaching, or giving me access to tailored resources to track my progress and prepare for assessments. I appreciate how proactive they are in checking in on my learning needs, especially through the Additional Learning Needs process, where they offer personalised adjustments and ensure I have what I need to succeed. The support extends right through to EPA preparation, with helpful materials, portals, and ongoing communication that make the entire journey feel structured, reassuring, and fully guided. Overall, I genuinely feel that my training provider is invested in my growth, my confidence, and my ability to achieve my qualification successfully.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
I’m confident that this qualification will have a direct and meaningful impact on how I perform in my role. The apprenticeship is giving me a much deeper understanding of AI, data governance, business analysis, and value‑driven problem‑solving—all of which align closely with the responsibilities I handle day‑to‑day. I can already see how the frameworks, techniques, and structured ways of thinking I’m learning help me approach challenges more strategically, design better solutions, and make more evidence‑based decisions. It’s strengthening my ability to translate business needs into practical, well‑governed AI opportunities, and it’s boosting my confidence when leading discussions or shaping improvements across our platforms. Ultimately, I feel this qualification is equipping me with the skills and mindset to deliver greater impact, drive more innovation, and operate at a more advanced and influential level within my team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
There are plenty of extra‑curricular activities I can get involved in at work, and I really appreciate how much Computacenter encourages colleagues to connect beyond day‑to‑day responsibilities. Through the Social Spot and the Social Team, there’s a huge variety of events—from pub quizzes, board‑game nights, and creative workshops to fitness activities like running groups, ice skating, hiking, and even cycling tours. There are also great opportunities to meet new people, share hobbies, and build friendships through informal meet‑ups or employee‑driven groups. I like that it’s easy to get involved, suggest my own ideas, or simply join activities that interest me, and it makes the workplace feel more vibrant, inclusive, and community‑driven.

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would absolutely recommend Computacenter to a friend. It’s a place that genuinely invests in its people, focuses on creating a great employee experience, and encourages everyone to grow, learn, and get involved. In the 18 years I have worked for Computacenter, i’ve always felt supported here — whether through development opportunities, a positive team culture, or the commitment to continuous improvement across the organisation. The company’s focus on innovation and people‑centred ways of working makes it a rewarding and motivating environment, and it’s somewhere I’m proud to be part of and confident others would enjoy too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
If a friend were applying to Computacenter, I’d encourage them to really take the time to understand what the company values and to show how their strengths align with that. Computacenter looks for people who are proactive, curious, and team‑oriented, so demonstrating enthusiasm for learning, delivering great customer outcomes, and working collaboratively will go a long way. I’d also suggest tailoring their CV to the role by clearly mapping their skills and experience to the job requirements, just as our internal careers guidance recommends. And above all, I’d tell them to be themselves and highlight what motivates them — whether that’s developing their career, working with leading technology, or contributing to a positive, people‑focused culture. With the right preparation and a genuine interest in what we do, they’ll make a strong impression.
