Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am the Learning and Development administrator at Troup Bywaters + Anders. My role involves researching, designing, and delivering learning interventions - usually in a supportive function but occasionally independently. I also coordinate our internal and external CPD schedules, assist with our building services apprenticeship scheme and advise colleagues on professional memberships. Other responsibilities include organising and facilitating quarterly inductions for new joiners, administering our T&D programme, and responding to ad hoc training requests.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am currently undertaking a L3 L&D Practitioner Apprenticeship, which I started in July 2025. I am really enjoying the programme so far, which is a flexible release format consisting of 8-weekly online workshops, assignments, and regular catch ups with a skills reviewer. The programme is providing me with a lot more context to the various roles within L&D, and the latest developments in the field. I can seamlessly apply this learning to projects at work, rarely struggling for ways in which to meet the KSBs.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have both learnt new skills and developed existing ones over the course of my programme. For example, I previous had little experience in presenting to groups outside of an academic environment. My apprenticeship programme has encouraged me to take a leap out of my comfort zone and take on opportunities that require me to indepently present information or lead activities to groups of varying sizes. I feel that my verbal communication has also improved as a result of this. I have a good relationship with my colleagues and am well supported, which only accelerates the adoption of new skills by putting new knowledge into action.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
After some initial teething problems, my programme has been very well structured. I am informed of the dates and times of workshops well in advance, and am provided with ample information to help me complete assignments. My EPA gateway should be in July, but I already have a good idea of what that period will entail, due to preparatory tasks involved in my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel incredibly well-supported at work. Apart from weekly catch ups with my line manager, we also hold fortnightly targeted meetings, focusing on my apprenticeship specifically (e.g. running through KSBs, brainstorming entries for my learning journal etc). When needed, I also feel supported by the rest of the team, I am given space to work on specific areas of collaborative projects to assist me in meeting KSBs. I never feel overwhelmed in juggling my apprenticeship and work requirements - which is testament to having such great support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider always responds quickly whenever I have any questions regarding my course. They have also shared opportunities outside of the structure of the programme that have served as useful off-the-job activities (for example, webinars on topics adjacent to L&D). Meetings always occur as planned and are rarely rescheduled. I've been given the opportunity to do a 'mock' work based project, which will be a useful practice run prior to EPA.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As mentioned in previous responses, I feel that my qualification has provided me with the foundational basis behind my job role. Learning the theory behind specific learning interventions, as well as researching latest development, have allowed me to contribute innovative ideas and so has aided my personal development. Once my programme finishes, I will be able to independently conduct a full training cycle with little assistance, freeing up time for colleagues to focus on other responsibilities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Within Partnership Operations, we tend to have at least one social each quarter, and try to vary the activities so that everyone has something to look forward to. We have a full calendar of awareness days/weeks, each of which has associated activities and events for the whole company to be involved in. These range from knowledge-sharing sessions, to office lunches.
