Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Honestly, being a Finance Apprentice at Beazley has been such a good experience. One of the best parts is that we get to do three different rotations, which means you don’t get stuck doing one thing — you actually get to try out loads of areas across finance and figure out what you enjoy the most.
The people here are also so welcoming. Everyone is happy to help, explain things, and just make you feel like part of the team from day one. It makes starting a new job way less scary.
And the benefits are great too — Beazley really looks after its employees, which definitely makes a difference.
If you’re thinking about applying, I’d honestly recommend it. You learn loads, meet amazing people, and get to be part of a company that really supports you.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The programme is great - there is so much opportunity to learn and tackle new tasks. Everyone is so supportive and willing to teach/ explain anything. The cohort I have come in with are great. We have really formed our own little community and its great to feel so welcomed and appreciated at a FTSE100 company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
During my time as a Finance Apprentice, I’ve developed so many valuable skills. My Excel skills have improved massively — from basic spreadsheets to things like formulas and organising data properly. I’ve also grown a lot in communication, whether that’s talking to different teams, asking the right questions, or explaining my work clearly. Working across multiple rotations has boosted my teamwork too, because you’re constantly collaborating with new people and adapting to different working styles. On top of that, juggling deadlines and tasks in each rotation has really strengthened my organisation and time-management skills. Overall, the apprenticeship has helped me become much more confident and capable in a professional environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is structured really well, and one thing I’ve noticed is how happy every team is to take on an apprentice or graduate — they genuinely appreciate the extra pair of hands and the fresh perspective. We also get plenty of time to plan ahead for our next rotation. Before we make our choices, we review all the options and have months to think about what we want to do next. It’s super easy to make connections with potential teams too. Booking catch‑ups or intro chats is straightforward, and people are always open to meeting you, answering questions, and helping you figure out whether their area might be a good fit.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Great support - the managers are all prepared to have someone new join the team and are very patient when explaining the company's procedures and systems. You will have weekly catch-up's to ensure everything is going well and our progress is reviewed consistently to keep us on track.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support from our training provider - BPP - is good. Our lectures are online so our tutors are also online. They are accessible via email in case any questions arise. We also have regular coaching review calls to ensure we are making sufficient progress and are not feeling overwhelmed or frustrated with the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification helps massively toward my role in finance. Coming straight from school with no Accounting A-Level, I had no idea about the basics of accounting, thanks to BPP and the courses I have been doing, I now feel a lot more confident with the core processes that occur at Beazley in the finance team. It has allowed me to understand the logistics behind decisions that members of my team make.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Absolutely, the boys are currently taking part in football after work. We have plenty of socials to go to after work (either with your team or the company as a whole.) It is also really easy to organise a social with some close colleagues after work with an abundance of places to go to near the office. Additionally, there are some internal communities which are also on offer including BeazleySHE, BeazleyYoungProfessionals, BeazleyNeurodivergent and more! As a part of the early careers cohort, we also have many volunteering opportunities including helping out at shelters, primary schools and even fundraisng events.
